Safe Connection was formed to provide cell phones for victims of family violence. It is a phone to help them feel safe, feel connected to and regain their sense of safety and empowerment. This partnership was formed between the Edmonton Police Foundation and Rogers, 630 CHED radio, Digital Communications, Crystal Glass, City of Edmonton Community Services, Nokia and the Edmonton Police Service.
The spousal violence intervention team (SVIT) consists of a social worker from Edmonton Community Services and police detective from the Edmonton police service. They are in charge of distributing the phones to women in need.
Safe Connection is looking for the public support in meeting the challenge set forth by The Edmonton Police Foundation. The foundation has donated 10,000.00 dollars and is challenging the citizens of Edmonton and area to meet this challenge. All donations go directly to purchasing cell phones and air time minutes for victims of Family Violence ,a phone call can save a life and help stop the cycle of violence.
Please help in supporting this cause and donate generously.
Donations can be made at any Crystal Glass or Digital Communication location or send a cheque directly to The Edmonton Police Foundation.
